60-day grace period more valuable than ever: Immigration expert's advice to H-1B visa holders

What to do if an H-1B visa holder loses the visa status? Immigration attorney Rebecca Chen said they should utilize the 60-day grace period to change their status to any other category, as their situation permits. If they leave the US, their re-entry on a new H-1B visa will trigger $100,000 fee. So they must try to not lose the status, and if they lose then to remain in the US legally and trying for a new job, new visa status -- instead of leaving the country
