67-year-old duped in Rs 82.5 lakh online investment fraud in Mumbai
A 67-year-old Mumbai businessman lost Rs 82.50 lakh to a sophisticated online investment scam. Lured by fake WhatsApp and Telegram groups promising high stock market returns, he downloaded a fraudulent app and transferred funds. After a small initial withdrawal, the fraudsters demanded more money for taxes before disappearing. Police are investigating the individuals behind the scheme.
