After Mumbai tree tragedy, Thane orders citywide survey of dangerous trees to prevent more accidents
A day after a tree collapse in Mumbai killed a schoolboy and another tree-related incident injured a Thane resident, Thane Mayor Sharmila Pimpolkar has ordered an urgent citywide survey of dangerous trees. The Tree Authority Department has been directed to inspect trees near schools, hospitals, housing societies, busy roads and public spaces, identify dead or leaning trees and take immediate action to prevent further accidents.
