Commercial tax authorities have uncovered widespread 'address fraud' following a surge in suspicious GST registrations after the GST-2 rollout. Traders exploited automated approvals to create fake entities, submitting dubious addresses like forged utility bills and even blank paper to evade taxes. This led to the suspension of around 300 fraudulent registrations.
