SB fire evokes memories of 2016 horror
A decade after a devastating fire at SUM hospital claimed 21 lives, the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack experienced a blaze. The 2016 incident, reportedly caused by a short circuit, saw patients and attendants trapped by thick smoke, with many succumbing to suffocation during evacuation. Gross negligence was cited by the fire service following the tragedy.
