Bengal budget allocates Rs 900 cr for New Town-Chingrighata elevated link
A significant Rs 900 crore has been allocated for a new 7.4 km elevated corridor connecting EM Bypass to New Town, aiming to drastically improve connectivity and ease traffic congestion. This project, conceptualized in 2013 and revised to avoid wetlands, will feature advanced amenities. Additionally, Ro Ro terminals are planned at Shalimar-Garden Reach to shift freight from roads to rivers, further reducing city traffic.
